Slack: Making Slack Calls

You can make voice calls from the Slack app on Mac, Windows, Linux, iOS, and Android.

You can make video calls from the Slack app on Mac, Windows, and Linux.

You can share your screen from the Slack app on Mac and Windows. 

 Instructions

Start a Call:

From a direct message

  1. Open a direct message with the person you wish to call.

  2. Click the phone icon to the right of the name of the person.

  3. Your call will start right away, and the member you’re calling will receive a pop-up notification.

From a channel

  1. Open a channel and click the phone icon to the right of the name of the channel.

  2. Your call will post to the channel and any member (up to 15 total) can join by clicking Join this call.

  3. The call window will look like this until others join the call:

  4. If you need to invite others to the call, click on the invite icon in the upper-left area of the call window and start typing the member’s name. Select their name to invite them.

  5. Once you are in a call you can turn on your video by clicking on the camera icon.

  6. To share your screen during the call, click on the computer screen icon. 

Join a Call:

  1. Click the green phone icon to answer a call from one person or click Join this call from channel call invitations.
