  • A http address for the Taiwanese order site is usually provided in Chen’s requests spreadsheets

    • But it can be useful to search the ISBN online (if available)

  • OCLC number may be provided there as well, but the record often turns out to be Chinese-language (or other CKJ language) of cataloging

  • However, we can Derive a bib record from CKJ version, and change it as needed

  • Often there is no OCLC bib record, so we may need to do original

  • Check the Cataloging tracker to see if title has already been added

Cataloging Notes

  1. Lang: chi (or jpn or kor)

  2. If I am creating an original record, I usually code it as level 7 cataloging, (because I know there will be errors in there somewhere).

    • ELvl: 7 (original) or [blank] for original cataloging

    • Otherwise, except whatever level the copy catalog bib has

  3. For easier Tracking/Finding of Chinese, Korean, Japanese material,

    • Add the English title from the spreadsheet to the MARC record as a 246, dropping leading articles

    • 246 1 |i Title in English: |a Moe Manifesto: Insider's Look at the World of Comics, Animation, and Games

  4. If you can copy the Chinese, etc. language record’s characters over, do so; otherwise, just fill in the main transcription fields with transliterated text.
