Email: Email Address Sending as A#@aggies.usu.edu

 Problem

Email address sending as A#@aggies.usu.edu

 Solution

Verify your settings in your mail client.

Outlook Instructions:

  1. Verify your settings in your mail client.

    1. Open Outlook

    2. Select the Outlook drop-down menu

    3. Select Preferences

    4. Select Accounts under Personal Settings

  2. Your E-Mail address should show as A#@aggies.usu.edu. Your account name should show as firstname.lastname@usu.edu. If it does not, edit the Account Description putting in the correct email address.

For some individuals there is an issue with your mail client on Macs. The email sent from address for some individuals is being set to their A#@aggies.usu.edu address instead of their Primary SMTP address of firstname.lastname@usu.edu or A#@usu.edu email address. This can affect services such as:

  • ServiceNow approvals

  • LibAnswer ticket replies

  • Ticket replies submitted to the Library IT Help portal

  • ListServ subscriptions

  • It may also cause recipients to ignore an email thinking it is Spam.

You may not notice the problem when you send an email, but it will cause problems with the programs that it is interacting with without notifying you of the issue.
