Sierra: Won't launch

 Problem 1

The SDA appears to launch in the taskbar, but the window itself won't appear.

 Solution

Usually this problem is when the SDA is pinned on the lower control bar. Try one of the following solutions:

  1. Launch Sierra.

  2. Hover the mouse over the SDA icon symbol

  3. Tap the alt key and space key at the same time to open the java pane

  4. Select maximize.

Or:

  1. Launch Sierra.

  2. Once the application is active on the taskbar, hover over the icon until the square thumbnail display shows up.

  3. Right-click on the thumbnail.

  4. Choose maximize.

 Problem 2

I’m double-clicking on the app icon to open Sierra, but nothing happens.

 Solution

Usually this problem is when the computer running the client is not connected to the USU network.

If using a laptop or if using a desktop off-campus:

  1. Connect using the VPN for staff access (slvpn.usu.edu/staff)

  2. Once connected via the VPN, try opening Sierra again

If using a desktop on-campus:

  1. Check to make sure the network registration hasn’t expired. If it has, renew it.

  2. Once connected to the USU network, try opening Sierra again.
