Mac: Upgrade to Monterey OS

Question

Can I upgrade to the Monterey operating system on a Mac?

Answer

After testing the Monterey operating system, we have verified that almost all of the standard software we use works on it so feel free to upgrade. Before you upgrade, please review the following information and contact LIT if you have any questions.

Cautions:

  • The number one thing is to make sure you are signed out of all apps, especially Adobe, and that all apps are closed before you run the update. For some reason, files get shuffled around during the update and that will break certain apps if they are open.

  • If you are doing an upgrade from Catalina or Big Sur to Monterey, you will be okay. Anything prior to that, contact LaLine. The upgrades from the earlier versions are not clean and you may want to do an alternate method to upgrade.

  • The Mitel connect desktop app does not work with Monterey. There is a Chrome extension workaround. (More information)

  • You can use the computer during the download, but you may want to plan the install for the end of the work day. The installation time takes quite a bit of time.
