FTPing with WinSCP

Since all browsers have stopped supporting FTP protocols, we have changed to using LIT’s suggestion of the WinSCP software.

  • All users

    • Accept all the defaults and lawyer repellant

Setting up:

  • type in the vendor’s ftp site address and log in with user name & password:

  • A split window will open with your computer on the left; the vendors files on the right:

Downloading files

  1. Once you have opened the vendors folder, simply select all the files you want to Load and click Download

  1. WinSCP default download is you Documents directory, you can change to another by clicking Browse

  2. files appear in the left hand screen (showing your computer’s documents:

  1. Ta da!

Save your site/login pathways:

  1. Click on New Tab or if window is already open:

  1. Click on New Site in the left hand screen

  2. Fill in the new pathway, user, and password

  3. click Save: you can also choose to save your password (the box says: Not recommended, but you can save it anyway)

  4. Site will appear in left hand window:

Main Window:

You can leave two sites open at the same time. If you close the working tab (window), you can open either one of the sites from the main screen:

You can also open an entirely new site by clicking New Tab from the main screen:
