FTP download software/app:

Since all browsers have stopped supporting FTP protocols, we will use LIT’s suggestion of the WinSCP software:

  • Download for Windows, if needed: https://winscp.net/eng/download.php

    • All users

    • Accept all the defaults and lawyer repellant

    • and Open

  • type in the vendor’s ftp site address and log in with user name & password:

Use MarcEdit to join individual files

  1. Tools,-->Marc Processing Tools-->MARCJoin:

    • Save file: navigate to your chosen folder for the future joined file; [give it an descriptive name]; Save

      • name example: CAMBRIDGE_BOOKS_ONLINE_EBCOLL_6000746_10202023-11082023

    • File(s) to join: navigate to folder containing your files: select all of them; Save

  2. Click Process

  3. File will show up in the folder of choice

Replace 001 add prepend taylorfrancis to 001

2 blanks after =001

  • Replace All

  • Check number changed matches record numbers

  • Make sure the 001 fields are still lined up and have to blanks after the prepend

    • Find All =001

  • Edit-->Save

Delete fields: Tools-->Add/Delete Fields

  • Fix problems--often just miscodes and incorrect indicators

Compile into MARC-->File-->browse to folder, then name file (I add “done”)

Load into Sierra: Function-->Data Exchange

  • Get PC-->[find file]-->upload-->.lfts

  • Prep-->Start (should show number of records in file)

  • .lmarc-->Load

Load: BATCH LOAD Worldcat Collection Sets (.collectionsets)

  • Use Review Files; Test first; then Load

  • Double-check number of records in TOTAL RECORDS READ

after loading, view a record in review file of inserted records and confirm fields in bib and item added by load table and 949

  • FUNCTION-->Create Lists-->find empty line-->Copy-->find review file; remove file? Yes

  • Double click to view review file list
