Importing Records into Sierra
Open the Data Exchange function in Sierra
2. Select Load records via locally–created load profiles (local) from the Select Process drop down menu
3. Select the Upload files from PC (1) button (hover your mouse over the buttons and you will see the black text box pop up with the name of the button)
4. Browse for the export file(s) that is to be uploaded – Click the Upload button
5. Change the suffix for the export file to .lfts – select from the drop down menu – then click the OK button
6. The export file will now be listed with the .lfts suffix – highlight the file and select the Preprocess records loaded via FTS button
7. To preprocess the file, select the Start button – you will see a summary of input/output – when done, close the preprocess screen by clicking on the Close button
8. You will now see the preprocessed export file with an .lmarc suffix – highlight the file and click on the Load button
9. Select the LOAD/Overlay bibs & create items (.briefbiboverlay) load action from the drop down menu (*ALWAYS* select this load action when copy cataloging unless you are instructed otherwise! – click the OK button
10. To load the file, select the Load button – you will see a summary of input/output – when done, close the load screen by clicking on the Close button
11. Delete any files you created when you are done loading – highlight all of the files (hold CTRL and click each file individually) – click the Delete Files button – confirm the deletion by clicking the OK button
12. Delete the Export File from its file destination
*It is important that you delete your exported file after it has been imported into Sierra. Otherwise, the single file will be modified each time you export to include every record you export.
13. Switch to the Cataloging function in Sierra – conduct a search for the items that have been loaded and perform a quality control check in Sierra and online
