Asset Ingest (New Generation)

Single file ingest (no metadata)

  1. Go to Preservica (us.preservica.com/starter)

  2. Login

  3. Go to Add from top menu

    1. Add.jpg
  4. Select “Upload a single file or zip” from the drop down menu

    1. Add_Dropdown_Select.jpg
    2. A new window will open

  5. Go to file location on the DP drive

    1. Once the file to upload is selected on the drive, click the “Open” button

    2. The file will then be uploaded to Preservica

  6. Check for file upload and correct properties

    1. Report any errors etc. to supervisor

 

Multiple file ingest - folder (no metadata)

  1. Go to Preservica (http://us.preservica.com/starter )

  2. Login

  3. Go to Add from top menu

  4. Select “Upload a single file or zip” from the drop down menu

    1. A new window will open

  5. Go to file location on the DP drive

    1. Once the folder of files to upload is selected on the drive, click the “Open” button

    2. The file will then be uploaded to Preservica

  6. Check for file upload and correct properties

    1. Report any errors etc. to supervisor

  • Preservica access and permissions

  • DI/DP drive access and permissions

  • Python (current version 3.12.4) - free download at Download Python

  •  

  • Python libraries: pandas and lxml

  • WinSCP - an open source SFTP (Secure File Transfer Protocol) client

 

WinSCP Setup

  1. Download WinSCP

  2. Set up a new session

    1. Change the File protocol to: Amazon S3

    2. Enter the host name: http://s3.amazonaws.com

    3. Enter the appropriate access key ID and secret access key: (see supervisor for needed credentials)

    4. Click on the Advanced drop down list

      1. Click on “Directories”

      2. Enter the Preservica AWS Cloud bucket name under “Remote Directory” --> com.preservica.libraryusu.put.holding

      3. Select the local directory where you will be transferring files from (e.g. the C: drive on your computer, DI: or DP: from the networked drives on your computer)

      4. Click “OK”

    5. Click “Save”

      1. Select the checkbox to save your password

  3. Login - you should now be connected from your local server to Preservica’s PUT holding area
