Asset Ingest (Classic)

File ingest (no metadata)

1. Go to Preservica classic (https://us.preservica.com/)

2. Enter your login credentials

3. From the main menu options, select Ingest >> Prepare

   Open

   

4. Click or Drag and Drop files into the designated area of the Preparation and Upload Tool

   Open

   

5. Name your project (other settings under the “Options” tab do not need to be changed)

6. Under the “Folder selection” tab, click to select an “Existing” folder then click “Browse” >> click to highlight the Root folder where the item(s) will need to be located within the archival structure >> click the “Select” button

7. Go to the “Save project” button >> click to “Save and upload”

8. Select the source to upload files to (it is currently “com.preservica.libraryusu.bulk”) >> Click “Upload”

9. At this point the files will be uploading which can take an unpredictable amount of time (depending on the size of the upload, internet speed, and server usage) - you will see a spinning graphic while the files are loading

10. Once the files have been uploaded, you will see a message indicating success (or failure)

11. An “Upload was successful” message indicates that the ingest is in process. There is also an unpredictable amount of time that will pass before the actual ingest will begin (Ingest processes can be monitored by going to the option under “Ingest” in the main menu options - you can click to “Monitor” or go to “Running” to check the ingest progress. If you don’t see your ingest running you may just have to wait for the process to begin. If a long amount of time passes without any indication of a successful ingest, a problem may have occurred, in which case you can give it more time, attempt the upload again, or create a support ticket with Preservica Support.

12. Close the project (you will be prompted to save the project again but this step was already done in step 7 so, click to “discard changes” unless you actually made changes to the project after uploading
