\uD83E\uDD14 Problem

The following error displays. When you try and update, it asks for an Apple ID.

\uD83C\uDF31 Solution

The Slack version that is currently installed will no longer run. Slack will need to be uninstalled and reinstalled with the newest version.

  1. Quit Slack if it is running on your Mac.

  2. Drag the Slack app from your Applications folder to the Trash.

  3. In the Finder, click the Go menu > Go to Folder.

  4. Type the following into the text box: ~/Library/ and click Go.

  5. Check the following folders inside ~/Library/ for files with the word ‘Slack’ in them. When you find them, drag those files to the Trash.

~/Library/Saved Application State/com.tinyspeck.slackmacgap.savedState/

~/Library/Preferences/com.tinyspeck.slackmacgap.plist/

~/Library/Preferences/com.tinyspeck.slackmacgap.helper.plist/

~/Library/Logs/Slack/

~/Library/Caches/

~/Library/Containers/

6. Empty the trash.

7. Reboot your computer.

8. Once your get logged back in, open a browser, and download and install Slack.
