Sierra Specific Fixed Fields (at the top of the Holdings Record):

  • Location:

    • gjrnl = BARN journals

    • gbks = BARN books (annuals, etc.)

    • iabb = SCA (formerly ABR) Beat Magazines

    • agov = Government Documents (Gov.Info.)

    • etc.

MARC Leader:

Already filled out in the SerialHold form:

  • MARC Leader #####ny 22#####3n 4500 ← hover over field; right-click; Expand Field:

    • RECORD TYPE: y = Serial holdings OR v = multi-volume monograph holdings

    • ENC LEVEL: 3 = Encoding Level (top level of enumeration/date only)

008 fixed field:

  • 008 121120 5 u 8 0 001 u a eng 0 ←hover; right-click; choose Expand Field

    • R/A Stat:

      • 4 = currently received

      • 5 = not currently received (many non-subscription titles, title changed, donations, etc.)

      • 2 = publisher stopped publishing it

    • Language (of captions): eng = English language captions (unless they’re not); usually we use English, even if serial uses foreign-language erms, but on occasion, we have chosen to use the original language (Example: Bd. 2)

  • 852 31 |hC 21.5: SuDoc and most SCA local call numbers fit into |h

  • 852 01 |hOK1|i.B345 For call numbers (with |a and |b in bib record), for Holdings, use ; change to |h and |i

853/863 fields (finally, the actual Holdings Fields):

  • 853 03 |81|av. Volume prefix

  • 863 30 |81.1 |a883-930 volume numbers
