These instructions are for books from OUR collection that are being lent to Distance Patrons. A Distance Patron is any current Faculty, Student or Staff member living outside of Cache Valley, Utah.

  1. Search/pull book from Collections

  2. Update Stacks in Illiad

    1. Go to Document Delivery Tab

    2. Click Update Stacks Search

    3. Scan Transaction Number

    4. Click Mark Found

  3. Check out to Patron in Sierra

    1. Merrill-Cazier Books – Slip has purple “D”

      1. In Check out Module

        1. Type in Patron's A-number (on pull slip)

          1. If the patron has a fine over $5, bring item to staff member

          2. Override fines under $5

        2. Scan book’s barcode

        3. Make sure due date matches pull slip

    2. Borrowing – Slip has DIS, CUP, or CUB

      1. (Possibly linking to Borrowing procedure in Confluence)

      2. Write DIS, CUP, or CUB on small print out. Give to Bianca.Use this procedure Distance and USU Eastern

  4. Finish Processing

    1. Cut out patron address at bottom

    2. Fold pull slip long ways and use paper strips to create book band

      1. Borrowing book slips do not need to be folded

    3. Tape patron address to shipping label

    4. Tape Pre-Paid Return label to book band, to be highly visible

  5. Place in Packaging area – “Distance”
