FTP download software/app:

Since all browsers have stopped supporting FTP protocols, we will use LIT’s suggestion of the WinSCP software:

• Download for Windows, if needed: https://winscp.net/eng/download.php

  • All users

  • Accept all the defaults and lawyer repellant

  • and Open

Downloading

• Open WinSCP

• type in the vendor’s ftp site address and log in with user name & password:

• 

• Select the most recent (i.e. a week’s worth) of Cambridge files

• Click download and look at where the program is sending them

MarcEdit for Joining files

1. Use MarcEdit to join individual files

2. Tools,-->Marc Processing Tools-->MARCJoin:

   • Save file: navigate to your chosen folder for the future joined file; [give it an descriptive name]; Save

     • example: CAMBRIDGE_BOOKS_ONLINE_EBCOLL_6000746_10202023-11082023

   • File(s) to join: navigate to folder containing your files: select all of them; Save

3. Click Process

4. File will show up in your folder of choice

Unicode - Check MarcEdit

Use MarcEdit to join individual files if desired: (Tools, Marc Processing Tools, MARCJoin).

Replace; add prepend cambridge to 001

• Edit; Find: =001 ← 2 blank spaces for the indicators

  • Field Data ^ (regex symbol meaning: insert in front)

      • Remove Subfield code from scope (otherwise u will be pushed to the end)

      • Replace text

• Do a quick check that 856 fields still line up; and no digits (especially subfield letters) are misplaced
