Replacing Compound Objects with PDFs in CONTENTdm (collection replacement)

  1. Follow procedures for Creating a Collection in CONTENTdm

    1. Name the collection using the same title as the collection being replaced and append ā€œ2ā€ to the end of the title - this is done to differentiate the two collections

  2. Follow procedures for Creating a Metadata Template and include information for each format found in the collection

  3. Export and save the metadata from the original collection which can be transferred to the new collection

    1. This file will be a tab delimited file which will be copied from or modified in Microsoft Excel and saved as new version

  4. Modify Spreadsheet Option (follow the same procedures for Uploading Items and Metadata into CONTENTdm Project Client Using a Tab-Delimited File)

    1. Edit the exported metadata spreadsheet to upload metadata with files into CONTENTdm Project Client

  5. Copy and Paste Option

    1. Follow procedures for Uploading Items into CONTENTdm

    2. Use exported metadata spreadsheet from the old collection to copy and paste information into corresponding fields of the new collection

  6. Follow applicable procedures for Approving and Indexing CONTENTdm Collections
