Term Two

Generally 4 letters from the first four consecutive letters of (based on the ANSCR code in Term One), of the composer's surname, performer's surname, author's surname, title, or (rarely), topic.

Term Three

Generally, 3 letters, but can be less than three: taken from the first letter of each of the first three significant words in the title of the work or album (or if a single word title, the 1st three letters of the title), or a number (if the work is known by a uniform title form plus number).

Term Four

One letter, plus two more digits: taken from the first letter of the performer's surname (or production company for children’s recordings, also some libraries also use COLL for multiple performers, and some use music publisher), followed by the last two digits of the music publishers number. Term Four must make the call number unique to its neighbors, so look at neighboring call numbers in the shelflist.
