First very rough draft of general links and tasks useful to Batch & Sierra regularly occurring duties

  • started 9/17/2023; updating continually

Batch/Sierra list of tasks:

  • First version list of tasks:

Plan of attack

Start with Cambridge EBA, Taylor & Francis EBA, Safari/O'Reilly subscription, and the YBP discovery records, and the Academic Complete update records.  (One thing to remember is to watch the dates on the ebook discovery and deletes and make sure you load them in order.  In other words, don't load deletes until you have loaded the discovery records with earlier dates.)

Make sure you use the tracking sheet versions with “current” at the end.

Pdda records to be deleted emails

So, both Tyler and Kevin periodically send Pdda emails when they need discovery records deleted because they have purchased an ebook through different channels (and we don't want to buy multiple copies.)

Before doing the requested record deletions, I confirm that the records are unpurchased ebook or print or EBA discovery records.

  • For the print DDA, the things to check are:

  • bib material type = dda (Print DDA books discovery)

  • 856 is |uhttps://library.usu.edu/services/suggest/print-dda.php|zThis book is available for the Library to purchase.  Click here to place a request.

  • 910 has Print DDA discovery record 20210310 (date varies of course)

  • and NO item record attached

  • I check the pDDA records carefully because occasionally they will request a deletion but it turns out that the print book was purchased but just didn't get cataloged properly to remove all those markers.

For the eDDA and EBA, I check for the 910 fields and confirm no order record is attached

Detailed Procedures and Tracking of files will remain in Box here:

FTP downloads software/app:

Since all browsers have stopped supporting FTP protocols, we will use LIT’s suggestion of the WinSCP software:

  • Download for Windows: https://winscp.net/eng/download.php

    • All users

    • Accept all the defaults and lawyer repellant

    • and Open

  • type in the vendor’s ftp site address and log in with user name & password:

  • A split window will open with your computer on the left; the vendors files on the right:

  • Ta Da!
